Ebberston Moor South re-injection well – Planning Meeting

say no to ebberston moor re-injection wellAfter the deferral in March, a second deferral in May and again in June – the last two at Third Energy’s request – The Cayman Islands based oil and gas company’s planning application for conventional gas production and two waste water re-injection wells at Ebberston Moor, in the National Park was due to be back in front of the North York Moors Planning Committee on Thursday 20th August.

Please note that this is a planning application for conventional gas production, NOT fracking. However, we still have serious concerns about the safety aspects of this application, particularly relating to the waste-water re-injection wells, which would deposit over 2.3 billion gallons of radioactive waste water back into the ground, through the Corallian aquifer that provides fresh water to Scarborough and surrounding areas.

The meeting is to be held at The National Park Office, The Old Vicarage, Bondgate, Helmsley, YO62 5BP and begins at 10.00 am.

Assuming this goes ahead on that day, we will be holding a peaceful demonstration outside the Offices from 9.00 a.m. We would like everyone to come along and show your opposition to Third Energy’s plans.

Please print out some of these A4 posters, which have been designed specially for the occasion, or make / bring your own posters, banners, etc.
