FRACK FREE UNITED is a network of residents’ and campaign groups whose aim is to protect our countryside from the threat of fracking. They are working with all political parties to build a progressive alliance to fight the threat of fracking to our communities, our rural tourism, our health, or countryside and the climate. It is clear that the government’s support for the oil and gas industry has made it extremely difficult for local communities to say no to fracking. You can read more about Frack Free United and Cross Party Frack free on this Drill or Drop report.
Now the Conservatives are saying that if they win, they will allow exploratory drilling to be undertaken without even requiring planning permission – and major fracking developments will be approved by a government minister, not by the local County Council. So much for local democracy.
In contrast, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Greens say that they will ban fracking if elected. To find out more about each party’s stance on fracking, please click here.

And of course, don’t forget to vote on June 8th!
