The UK is currently 4th globally in terms of energy security, equity and sustainability<\/strong>, according to the World Energy Council<a href=\"#_edn1\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#_edn1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/frackfreeryedale.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-283\" width=\"276\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frackfreeryedale.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-3.png 236w, https:\/\/frackfreeryedale.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-3-231x300.png 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is of course sensible to keep taking steps to improve our energy security, and there are many measures we could take right now to reduce our reliance on gas. For example, simply getting UK residents to turn down boiler flow temperatures and lower thermostat settings by 1<sup>o<\/sup>C would have <strong>6 times the impact <\/strong>of fracking scenarios promoted by the industry. And we wouldn\u2019t have to wait 5 years. Add in acceleration of onshore wind and solar, home insulation rates and heat pump installations and we can do 10 times better than anything fracking can provide<a href=\"#_edn2\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#_edn2\">[ii]<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>So if energy security is the question then fracking isn\u2019t the answer.
