PLEASE HELP LOCAL COMMUNITIES PROTECT FRACKING SAFEGUARDS BUILT INTO THE NORTH YORKSHIRE LOCAL PLAN
In the last week of January there will be an extra public hearing on the final version of The North Yorkshire Minerals and Waste Joint Plan, which is a key planning document that sets policy for fracking (and many other things) until 2030. We need to make sure that communities threatened by fracking have strong legal representation at the meeting, so please help us by clicking HERE to make a donation.
At this final meeting before the plan is formally approved you can be sure the oil and gas industry will be pulling out all the stops to remove the safeguards on fracking that have been built into The Plan over the last three years. We know that the frackers will have some highly-paid corporate lawyers in the room arguing their case – and we want to make sure that local communities facing the threat of fracking have their voices heard too.
Please make a donation to the new Crowdfunding appeal, which is raising funds to hire a top barrister to argue our case in front of the planning inspector at the public hearing. That’s about the gist of it, but for more details about the case and how to donate, please click here.
Thank you very much for helping local communities challenge the fracking industry – we simply couldn’t do it without your support.
PS If you’re not sure why this is so important, take a look at the map of North Yorkshire below, which shows the whole area completely covered by Petroleum Exploration and Development Licences (PEDLs).
