Are you still angry about North Yorkshire County Council approving Third Energy’s application to frack, despite overwhelming opposition from the local community, councils, landowners and businesses? Do you want to show your opposition to fracking in Ryedale and the rest of Yorkshire – and the country? Then please come along to what promises to be the biggest anti-fracking rally ever held in Yorkshire on Saturday, 30th July.

This peaceful family-friendly event starts at Clifford’s Tower in York (postcode YO1 9SA) and will make its way through the city to York Minster. The rally starts at 12.00 midday. Please bring banners or placards if you have them – or make your own. If not, don’t worry, there will be placards available for everyone at Clifford’s Tower.

At York Minster there will be speeches from prominent anti-fracking campaigners and other invited guests, and the event is due to end at about 2.00-2.30 p.m. After that, we invite everyone to grab some food and have a picnic in the park by York Minster, allowing people to make new friends, network, swap email addresses and have a bit of a sit down!

Speakers include Tina Rothery, Lancashire Nana and anti-fracking campaigner who is currently fighting a court battle with Cuadrilla, and John Ashton, Special Representative for Climate Change at the UK Foreign Office from 2006-12. More speakers to be announced soon.

In the wake of the outrageous decision to allow fracking at Kirby Misperton, and with fracking cheerleader Andrea Leadsom the new Environment Secretary, it is even more important than ever that communities show their public opposition to this unnecessary, unwanted and unsafe industry.

We want to make this the biggest ever rally against fracking in Yorkshire – and to do that, we need you! So please put the date in your diary – and bring your friends and family too!

One really useful thing you could do to spread the word about this important rally is to print out a few posters and flyers and deliver them to homes and businesses near where you live. You can also put them up on public noticeboards, in libraries, or where you work or study. Why not ask shops and businesses that you know if they can display them in the window?
You can also email them to your friends and family, or post them on Facebook and Twitter!

Here are different versions of the poster at the top of the page…
